Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties (BGCSDC) is proud to announce that the 2025 Champions for Children gala will honor the extraordinary legacy of Charles and Margery Barancik, whose lifelong commitment to youth empowerment through education and opportunity continues to help local youth reach their full potential. The late couple’s enduring impact lives on through the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation, which remains a driving force behind transformative opportunities for children and teens. Charles and Margery Barancik were passionate champions of BGCSDC’s mission, investing deeply in the potential of young people, especially those facing life’s most significant obstacles. Their influence was personal and profound, from making a transformational gift that enabled the organization to open its fifth Club location to supporting the organization’s expansion into DeSoto County. From pioneering after-hours programs to funding critical operations and staffing initiatives, the Baranciks have helped shape nearly every facet of the organization’s growth. Their legacy includes not only bricks and mortar, but a sustained investment in the people, programs, and possibilities that continue to uplift youth today and for generations to come. Through their personal philanthropy and the ongoing work of the Barancik Foundation, the Baranciks have elevated a wide range of innovative programs that support academic growth, build resilience and integrity, and inspire young people to lead with confidence in their schools and communities. Proceeds from the event will ensure youth across Sarasota and DeSoto Counties have access to award-winning programs that promote academic success, leadership development, healthy lifestyles, and career readiness.
