Musicpalooza
Local music school Music Compound is looking forward to a rocking "Good Friday" with its free community-wide event, Musicpalooza. The all-ages, family-friendly event takes place Friday, March 29, 3-8 p.m. at Nathan Benderson Park (5851 Nathan Benderson Circle, Sarasota). This is the kick-off event for My Hometown Fest, which takes place the next day. The gates open at 3 p.m., with food trucks, beverages, area vendors, and DJ Kurses & Karma. At 4 p.m., the live music begins, with performances by Music Compound youth and adult bands The Spokes, Pins and Needles, Solar Apocalypse, Heartbreaker, The Jam Band, and Velvet Echo. Genres will range from pop, rock, grunge and favorite classics. Proceeds from the event will benefit Sertoma Kids. Parking is $10. Guests are invited to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets.
