MANATEE RIVER GARDEN CLUB TO CELEBRATE FLORIDA ARBOR DAY 2024

This Florida Arbor Day, Manatee River Garden Club (MRGC) will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Florida Federation of Garden clubs with a tree planting. Recognition of invited guests and opening remarks will be at 10:30 am. At 11:00 am, 153 Florida Garden Clubs will plant over 300 trees across the state. MRGC members will plant a Simpson’s Stopper tree (Myrcianthes fragrans) adjacent to the butterfly garden at the garden club. This Florida native tree was chosen for its importance in providing for birds, bees, butterflies, and other wildlife. Simpson's stopper is a threatened plant species and is listed on the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services' threatened list.
