Thursday night with Irene Kligman
If you enjoy classical music and want to experience Irene Kligman, head to Amore Restaurant on Thursday, March 2 from 6 - 9pm. Irene will be playing for the first time in public at Amore's piano bar. She was a child prodigy at the age of 5, playing classical piano in Uzbekistan and came to Sarasota six years ago as a single mom raising two children and trying to make a better life for herself. She raised her children by giving piano lessons to students in Sarasota County, many of whom went on to play at Carnegie Hall. I happened to be at Amore the night that she asked to play, and all the patrons were awed by her talent. Amore owner Liana Vitorino and husband/chef Tito Vitorino hired her for her debut tomorrow night. Don't miss it! Video of her playing here.
