For most people, awareness of The Beatles began on February 9, 1964 when they appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. The Beatles seemed to have come out of nowhere; an overnight sensation. But who were these young mop tops? Who were they before they were Beatles? What were their childhoods like; what experiences defined them? What circumstances brought this history-making group of young men together? This class will begin by taking a look at the early years of The Beatles and the city of Liverpool: the war-weary, working-class town that spawned a revolution in music and sparked the "British Invasion." We will follow their struggles as children and musicians and their meteoric rise to becoming the most celebrated musical group ever. Their impact on music, fashion, and culture will also be discussed. This class will use photos, video, and, of course, the music of The Beatles to tell this truly amazing story. The facilitator, Alan McKee, is a lifelong Beatles fan and avid collector of Beatles memorabilia. Alan has spent time in Liverpool and London visiting the landmarks that hold an important place in Beatles history. If you are a Beatles fan, you will love this class - yeah, yeah, yeah!!!
