“Color Variations in Glass” by Ronen Vainish

Viewpoints Gallery is excited to announce our July featured exhibition by glass artist Ronen Vainish. Ronen’s glass works shine with gorgeous colors and elegant forms in this new collection. Each elegantly crafted piece reveals Ronen’s deft glass blowing skills, which he has honed over the past nine years. His latest collection features functional and beautiful glass vessels as well as stunning standalone glass sculptures. Ronen’s immense talent is also evident in the details within each piece, whether it is a twisting pattern that flows and changes effortlessly with the shape of the vessel, or a shock of vibrant orange amidst a backdrop of cobalt blue that is reminiscent of California poppy fields. Ronen has been blowing glass for the last nine years at the Bay Area Glass Institute (BAGI). During the course of his artistic career, he has also perfected his art by taking courses from master glass artists in Murano, Italy and at the Corning Museum of Glass in New York. Ronen’s stunning new pieces are testament to his dedication to his art. He explains the intent and inspiration behind his pieces, saying, “In my art, I am trying to create a play between the glass colors and glass patterns. To create the patterns, I use canes (the colored lines) in various geometrical shapes. Many of the pieces that I make have practical function (vases, bowls, decanters, cups, etc.) while others were created to be a centerpiece in a display.” Ronen explains his preference for using a variety of techniques to create unique shapes and patterns in his work, “I like to use multiple techniques such as thin glass in a Venetian style, canes and murine as well as Australian roll-ups, stuffed cups and Incalmo (fusing of multiple glass vessels).” Looking ahead, Ronen plans to add more complex color combinations and patterns to his glass work, and ultimately, he wants to create pieces designed to be garden sculptures.
