A Participatory Celebration of Community Singing and Springtime: 5 vocal artists weave magic through song. Come sing in community for joy, reflection, connection and FUN!
Featured guest Melanie DeMore, of Oakland, is a gentle powerhouse. As a vocal activist, songwriter, educator, choral director and songleader, she beautifully weaves potent songs, social justice, humor, play, and excellence. You don't want to miss this day!
Other songleaders are Michael Eagle Song (Carmel), Antonina Beyea (Santa Cruz), Colin Connor (Collaborative Vocal Improv - Ben Lomond), and Amber Kingery (Monterey). Each brings their own gifts of original music and joy!
What is Community Singing?! Community Singing is a growing movement of singers, songleaders and songwriters who sing together for joy and healing. Songs are taught in the oral tradition in a simple call-and-echo style, and include chants, rounds, unison, harmony, and songs with multiple layers. The lyrics are affirming and hopeful, with themes of love, connection, acceptance, compassion, overcoming struggle, authenticity, social justice, the earth, and honoring grief and pain. No singing experience is required and you may come and sing or simply relax and receive the goodness!
Tickets are available on Eventbrite or at the door, doors open at 12:30, event is 1-4 p.m. Sliding scale tickets are $15-$30.
