Through My Eyes: A Retrospective The solo fine art exhibit Trough My Eyes: A Retrospective presented by local artist Nicole Frelier Andrews will be on display at the Los Altos Hills Town Hall from March to September 2024. The art exhibit represents a retrospective of Nicole Frelier Andrews’ works spanning decades in the making. Born to a French family in her beloved native Northern California, award-winning painter and installation artist Nicole Frelier Andrews has a long and prolific history of museum and gallery work, public outreach, and community leadership. In addition to her numerous exhibitions spanning three decades, her strong local ties and wholesale dedication to public art spaces and civic education are natural extensions of her own artistic vision and ability to bridge imagination, abstraction, and reality across multiple mediums. As an artist and a historian through visual information, Frelier Andrews feels compelled to record our times, landscapes, feelings, and injustices. She has explored subject matter ranging from self-perception and body dysmorphia to the stillness of simple moments that touch us all. Whether it be a reaction, a sunset, or a memory, these moments help shape us even if we don’t realize their impact at the time. In the artist’s words: My work is inherently personalized through abstractions derived from reality. It is a form of self-exploration and the way I perceive life’s daily conflicts. A part of my responsibility as an artist is to record the world in which we live, the emotion or energy of the times, and to present a view into the past, present, or future. I try to encapsulate the vitality of my subjects through abstract forms. Instead of creating a realistic view of the world, I try to depict its energy, allowing the viewer to intimately relate to the work. Distilling everything down to its simplest form is my way of capturing the essence of my subjects while preserving the importance of their components, at times revealing new perspectives on the sum of their parts. Nicole graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art from San Jose State University. Since that time, she has continued to showcase works in galleries and art spaces in California and Montana.
