DNA records his first comedy album.
The Bay Area's number one micro-label, Punchline Records, working with Santa Cruz comics, Karin Babbitt and DNA, are bringing a historic night of comedy to the Kuumbwa Jazz Center on Friday, March 21st. Doors: 7:00 Comedy: 7:30
Both comics will be recording their very first comedy album for Punchline Records. With host Michael Booth.
Bios:
KARIN BABBITT
Comedian Karin Babbitt is the child of a Disney animator and an Auschwitz survivor. Raised in the Hollywood Hills, Babbitt performed nightly at the Comedy Store. She was a regular in the Main Room all through the 1980's. An original female comic amongst 90% male comics, Babbitt rose up and is now known as a Comedy Store Legend. Babbitt was featured on MTV Comedy Half Hour, VH-1, Stand Up Spotlight and many others. Babbitt toured America, headlining comedy shows and opening for rock stars. In 1990, she became a finalist in the San Francisco International Comedy Competition out of a field of hundreds of, again, male comedians.
A staple of Bay Area radio and wanting to make a difference, Babbitt turned to teaching young people. From teaching at high schools and colleges, to training adults with developmental disabilities how to become filmmakers, Babbitt walks the walk. Downtime during Covid rekindled her passion for performing stand-up comedy. Besides teaching at the San Francisco Comedy College, Babbitt has been performing comedy coast-to-coast. This is Babbitt's first comedy album.
DNA
DNA has appeared on NPR’s Snap Judgement, been Timothy Leary’s chauffeur, and has had a hit song on the radio in Northern California. DNA’s first time onstage was winning a Showtime College Comedy Laff-Off at Chico State. He then took 20 years off to create thousands of free community events and festivals. DNA's namesake, and Great Uncle, booked the comedy at The Anderson Hotel in the Borscht Belt. Comedy is in his genes. This is DNA's first comedy album.
