Join Atherton Arts Foundation and Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America for an Inspiring Weekend of Art, Conversation, and Connection Veteran Art Show and "Beyond the Uniform" Speaker Series Feature Prominent Local Veterans EVENTS: Friday, November 14 Fireside Chat and Art Reception (6-9pm) — an intimate evening with Tobias Wolff, Tom House (Salesforce), and Dr. Dean Winslow, plus early access to the Veteran Art Show *TICKETED BENEFIT EVENT, $250* Saturday, November 15 Morning “Vet-Together” (10-11:30am) — coffee, donuts, and conversation with veterans and neighbors Family Day and Art Show (10am-4pm) — meet veteran artists, enjoy children’s art activities, and explore antique military vehicles Evening Paint & Sip with Mark Stapleton (5-7:30pm) — savor wine, laughter, and creativity while painting alongside artist Mark Stapleton *TICKETED BENEFIT EVENT, $100* Sunday, November 16 Family Day and Art Show (12-4pm) — children’s art activities, including rock and tote-bag painting Art & Tea with Caroline Mustard (2:30-5pm) — slow down, sip tea, and create in community with artist Caroline Mustard *TICKETED BENEFIT EVENT, $100* LOCATION: Jennings Pavilion, Holbrook-Palmer Park, Atherton, CA ATHERTON, Calif. -- The Atherton Arts Foundation and Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America invite the community to an inspiring weekend of art, conversation, and connection at Holbrook-Palmer Park, from November 14-16. “It’s been an honor to work with my daughter, Dr. Kyleanne Hunter, CEO of IAVA, to develop the Veteran Art Show and ‘Beyond the Uniform’ speaker series,” shared Dorothy Hunter, Co-President of the Atherton Arts Foundation. “Together we came up with the idea for the show, and it’s incredible to see how it’s grown into a full weekend of activities honoring and celebrating our local veterans. We invite the community to join in the festivities, all of which support IAVA’s mission to connect, unite, and empower our nation’s newest veterans.” The weekend kicks off with a Friday evening fireside chat, featuring honoree Dr. Dean Winslow (Stanford University), and speakers Tom House (Salesforce) and Tobias Wolff (author), discussing the importance of leadership, resilience, and the power of community. Attendees will enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres, plus early access to the Veteran Art Show, featuring more than 15 veteran artists and more than a dozen artist family members of veterans. The Veteran Art Show opens to the public on Saturday morning, with a 10am “vet-together” (coffee, donuts, and conversation) with veterans and neighbors, plus children’s activities (rock and tote-bag painting), and the opportunity to explore antique military vehicles. Aspiring painters are invited to join artist Mark Stapleton for an evening “paint & sip,” where they will be led through a guided painting session, with wine, appetizers, and plenty of laughs. The show continues on Sunday, with children’s activities from 12-4pm, and a finale “art & tea” with British artist Caroline Mustard from 2:30-5pm.
