San Jose Metropolitan Band - Old Wine in New Bottles Concert

The San Jose Metropolitan Band is pleased to present our 2023 Spring Concert, Old Wine in New Bottles, on Sunday April 2nd at 3:00pm at the Hammer Theatre, which is located at Paseo de San Antonio and Third Street in downtown San Jose. We will present a concert that incorporates two of our favorite things: Music and Wine! Each selection in this program is either influenced by or makes reference to the intricacies, sophistication and the pure enjoyment of wine. Our concert will include: • Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor (Johann Sebastian Bach) • Danse Bacchanale (Camille Saint-Saëns) • March and Cortege of Bacchus (Leo Delibes) • Lightning Field (John Mackey) • This Cruel Moon (John Mackey) • Until the Scars (John Mackey) We will open the concert and set the theme by featuring a chamber group selected from the band playing Old Wine in New Bottles (Gordon Jacobs). We are working to line up a wine tasting at the concert – details to follow. Come early and explore downtown San Jose, which is home to the San Jose Museum of Art, the dynamic South of First Area (SOFA), and San Pedro Square. After the concert, plan to finish the day with dinner at one of the many excellent downtown restaurants. Advanced ticket reservations are strongly recommended to expedite entry into the concert. Ticket prices are $20 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and $5 for children.
