We support the LGBTQIAP+ Community all year long -- not just during Pride Month!
Davenriche European Martial Artes School (DEMAS) proudly recognizes the diversity of its students, including those of the LGBTQ community. The goal of our 3rd annual Big Gay Sword Day, is to show support to the local LGBTQ community, and that all are welcome at the school. Gender and gender identity is not a barrier to learning the heritage of European martial arts. DEMAS instructors and fellow students have created an environment of support and empowerment for all that walks through its doors. Through this support, a strong community within the school has developed, where people feel accepted and safe.
Local LGBTQ community support groups and services will be onsite with informational tables for the event.
In addition, there will be sword and weapons demonstrations, sparring between current students, and an opportunity to get a taste of the different classes offered at DEMAS. If you ever wanted to learn to use a sword like a Scottish Highlander, Musketeer, Viking, Medieval Knight, or Swashbuckling Pirate, this is your opportunity! Classes are open to all adults and children (minimum age for children’s classes is 8 years old).
