“Listen to the Landscape” by Annie Haines

Viewpoints Gallery is thrilled to announce our September exhibition featuring stunning new works by artist Annie Haines. This outstanding, vibrant collection of Annie’s latest works is the culmination of hours spent painting and sketching outdoors every week, creating studies which formed the foundation of her paintings. While working in nature, Annie “listens” to the landscape and explores the colors, rhythm, space, energy and the grandeur of her surroundings. The result of Annie’s dedication to finding inspiration outdoors is an impressive new collection that reflects her thoughtful, emotional connections to California’s landscapes. Thanks to her time spent both painting and observing nature, Annie’s new works move beyond literal depictions of the landscape. She uses abstraction, exaggeration and dynamic brushwork to convey her unique sensorial experience. Annie’s pieces are at once universal and deeply personal and she hopes that they inspire viewers to quietly reflect on their own relationships with the natural world. Annie is a member of the Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society, the Los Gatos Art Association and Allied Artists West. In addition to being an incredible artist, Annie also plays ukulele with her husband, Prashant Andrade, in a band called The Yardbugs. Her love of music is evidenced by the titles of some of her new works, which are lines from Bob Dylan’s song “Lay Down Your Weary Tune.” The Yardbugs will be performing the Dylan tune at the Artist Reception for “Listen to the Landscape” on September 6th from 5-8pm.
