Swing Dance Party at the USS Hornet
A Swing Dance on an aircraft carrier?
On June 8, the Alameda based aircraft carrier, the USS Hornet will be hosting a swing dance featuring a live band, dance lessons, lite bits, cocktails and more.
Featuring the Death and Taxes Swing Band, the evening will begin at 7:00 when everyone is invited to walk up the gangway and onto the indoor carrier deck where a parquet dance floor will be set out amongst the fighter planes. The dance will begin with a short beginner dance lesson then the band will take the stage and play hits from the 1940’s until 10:00.
The Death and Taxes Swing Band is a 7 piece swing band that features seasoned professionals mixed with up and coming college age players. The band’s sound has been described as, “...pure excitement and a swingin’ good time.” by the Bay Coastal News.
The evening is presented as a fundraiser for the USS Hornet museum. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at DeathAndTaxesSwingBand.com or https://bit.ly/swingdance_usshornet.
