Opening Reception: Postcards from “La Pulga”
This past fall, the media organization El Tímpano set up a pop-up photo booth at Oakland’s Coliseum Swap Meet, “La Pulga.” Over several weekends, Hiram Durán, photojournalist for El Tímpano and CatchLight Local Fellow documented the stories and images of vendors and patrons, revealing moments of celebration, camaraderie, heartbreak, and survival. These powerful photos and interviews are now presented in an exhibit at The Oakland Lowdown from June 8 through August 2, 2024.
