Film composer and record producer Mark Governor begins his monthly “Under the Influence” series at The Lost Church with a concert honoring iconic singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell. In this inaugural concert, Mark will be joined by singer-songwriter Pi Jacobs, acoustic duo Petty Chavez, multiple Grammy winner Nahuel Bronzini, and jazz singer Tara DeMoulin performing Joni's songs alongside their own original material that she inspired.
“Under the Influence” is a monthly songwriter event that showcases the best of Bay Area songwriters honoring the artists that inspire them. Each songwriter (or duo) performs an acoustic cover of a song by the chosen artist, and one or two original songs of their own that are inspired by the featured artist.The artists then join together to perform original arrangements of several songs by the featured honoree. In this concert, the ensemble will perform their version of Joni Mitchell’s beloved album “Blue” in its entirety.
Future “Under the Influence” concerts will take place on the first Thursday of the month at The Lost Church, San Francisco.
Mark Governor is the composer for 20 feature films whose music is featured in over 200 television series, specials, and documentaries including “The Hobbit” trilogy special editions. As a songwriter and record producer, he has worked with Grammy winning artists in nearly all genres of music.
Pi Jacobs draws inspiration from her unconventional upbringing in “The Land of Weed and Wine” aka Northern California. Blending roots-rock swagger and storytelling soul, her music has drawn comparisons to Tom Waits, Dolly Parton, and Lucinda Williams. She has been heard on NPR, DittyTV, Austin Music TV, Americana Highways, American Songwriter Magazine, and regularly on tastemakers KCSN, WFUV and stations across the nation.
PETTY CHAVEZ is the acoustic singer-songwriter duo of Simon Petty and Celia Chavez; a transatlantic partnership whose haunting vocal blend and evocative, intimate soundscapes tell their modern day love story in a timeless fashion.
Nahuel Bronzini is a 2-time Grammy Award winning music producer, arranger, performer and mixing engineer born and raised in Argentina, and now thriving in the SF Bay Area working with the best and brightest in the Bay.
Tara DeMoulin is a San Francisco based singer-songwriter. She is well-known in the North Beach underground scene, and regularly performs standards and French classics at Le Petit Paris on Broadway. Other credits include Landmark Theatre Company musicals, films Countercurrents and Precious Wheels, and Season 3 of American Idol.
