Humbird (Minneapolis) with Cole Pulice

$20 Same price online and at the door. Doors at 7:30pm. Show from 8:15-10:30pm with one intermission Humbird Combining a wintry longing with the warmth of a familiar folktale, Humbird stretches between experimental folk and environmental Americana to embrace the unexpected. This music invites a refreshing dissonance into the house, it leaves bread crumbs along the path and reflects light back at the stars. Humbird’s debut album Pharmakon (Aug. 2019) is a “...an absolutely hypnotic listening experience” according to Folk Alley. Atwood Magazine describes it as music wrapped in “gentle rebellion”. www.humbirdmusic.com “Leave it to Minneapolis indie-folk strummer Siri Undlin to find beauty, peace and hope during the tumult of 2020. 'Still Life’ her second full-length album as Humbird, was mostly written and recorded in the house where she waited out quarantine. Songs range from the yearning, Lissie-flavored rocker "Plum Sky" and the raw, George Floyd- and riots-reflecting "May" to one of the most moving COVID postscripts yet, "Pink Moon for John Prine," all rife with Undlin's soul-punchingly poetic style.” – Chris Riemenschneider, Minneapolis Star Tribune "'Still Life' is beautiful stuff that’s as pellucid as a summer afternoon and as cool as a fall morning." – Edd Hurt, Perfect Sound Forever Cole Pulice is a composer, saxophonist and electroacoustic musician from Oakland-via-Minneapolis. Following their debut album "Gloam" and two duo collaborations with Lynn Avery and Nat Harvie, Cole Pulice returns with their sophomore album "Scry". The sound is deeply contemporary, incorporating saxophone/wind synth with live signal processing and modern electronics/software. It drifts between electroacoustic experimentalism and more traditional forms of song-like beauty, casting a wide sonic net that highlights Pulice’s versatility and creativity as both an improviser and composer. https://colepulice.bandcamp.com/album/scry Recommended If You Like: Kelly McFarling, Watchhouse, Perfume Genius, ambient-jazz-psychedelia.
