The music of songwriter Ted Savarese has been described as ephemeral, roots-based, and angular, reflecting the hills and terrain of San Francisco.
His band, Octomutt, has played the Bay Area and throughout the west coast for over two decades. Octomutt’s monthly Rite Spot gigs are legendary for their soulful and welcoming vibe. Ted’s instrumental music has been featured on independent films such as Portraits and Dreams Revisited (Wendy Ewald) October Country (Michael Palmieri and Donal Mosher), The Big Flip (Izzy Chan) and others.
Jill Rogers is the singer and lead songwriter of Oakland’s premiere California country band, Crying Time.
With a penchant for 70’s era songwriting and a voice to match, she connects with audiences through her original songs of love at the edge of dissolution and heartache with a look back at what might have been. She’s also an interpreter of the American songbook who often sits in with jazz bands, sings with Orchestra Nostalgico, and fronts her own occasional little big band, Imperial Jazz Co.
For this show, Jill and Ted will be taking turns performing their original songs and unexpected covers. They’ll be backing each other up on one another’s songs, and will be joined by some special guest musicians.
