Rhythms of the Season: A Brazilian Jazz Christmas with NOVO TEMPO TRIO
Internationally acclaimed jazz composer, vocalist, guitarist, and producer Ed Johnson will bring his holiday-themed show, Rhythms of the Season: A Brazilian Jazz Christmas, to the Redwood City Public Library’s Fireside Room on December 10th, from 6:30 to 7:45pm. This free, festive event promises an evening of joyful, Brazilian-flavored jazz interpretations of holiday classics alongside selections from Johnson’s newest album, For Every Living Thing, which is available on all music streaming platforms.
Ed will be joined by his esteemed bandmates from the Novo Tempo ensemble: Kristen Strom on sax, flute, and vocals and Scott Sorkin on guitar and mandolin. Kristen Strom has worked with legendary artists such as Gladys Knight, Natalie Cole, and Johnny Mathis, while Scott Sorkin’s impressive resume includes performances with The Count Basie Orchestra, Mary Wilson of The Supremes, Nnenna Freelon, and Paula West. Together, this accomplished trio will infuse holiday classics with vibrant rhythms, jazz flair, and the warmth of Brazilian music.
