The Bay Area family holiday musical theater sensation—Panto in the Presidio—returns with the world premiere of a new production of “Alice in Wonderland” for all ages in 23 performances November 28 through December 27 at the Presidio Theatre in San Francisco. When a forgotten birthday sends Alice tumbling into a topsy-turvy San Francisco Wonderland, she wanders a world where the rules grow curiouser and curiouser. Audiences will join Alice as she meets a cast of chaotic characters, matches wits against a mad queen, and proves that growing up doesn’t mean letting go of your imagination. Since its launch in 2021, Panto in the Presidio has brought original, zany, musical theatre productions to more than 50,000 ticket buyers in its first five years. Panto is a popular British holiday tradition that mashes up children’s tales with updated storylines, familiar and new characters, send-ups of pop music, outrageous humor, eye-popping costumes and sets and, of course, the occasional rain of candy tossed from the stage. Panto in the Presidio has updated the tradition for American audiences with settings in San Francisco and environs, current cultural references and plenty of enthusiastic interactive participation. “Our new Alice in Wonderland joyfully proclaims that imagination is a superpower,” says Panto in the Presidio founder and Executive Producer Peggy Haas. “Many generations have delighted in Lewis Carroll’s whimsical and pretty nutty story about the adaptability of youthful optimism and inventiveness in the face of unpredictable odds and even odder personalities and circumstances. Come cheer Alice and her friends, boo the evil Red Queen, grin along with the beguiling Cheshire Cat and join us for a rollicking good time at the theatre this season.” “Panto has taken on a life of its own, captivating audiences each year with music, magic, imagination and heart,” says Panto in the Presidio Artistic Director and stage director Liam Vincent. “Our formula for success is simple: a creative team with limitless vision and talent, an all-star cast of the best Bay Area singing/dancing actors, a beloved story and audiences who journey with us each year into the wacky world of Panto.” “Alice in Wonderland” brings together the celebrated creative team and many returning cast members that created sold-out original productions including “Sleeping Beauty “and last year’s “Peter Pan” to the Presidio Theatre Stage. The creative team includes Executive Producer Peggy Haas, Associate Producer and Scenic Designer Sean Riley, Artistic Director and Stage Director Liam Vincent, Choreographer Stacey Printz, Musical director Bill Keck, Co-Playwrights Richard Ciccarone and Stephanie Brown, Costume Designer Alina Bokovikova, Video Designer Peter Crompton, Lighting Designer Andrea Schwartz, Sound Designers Jeff Gregory and Ben Krames, Creative Contributor Mason Williams, Props Head Devon Labelle, Makeup Designer Lindsay Saier, Wig Maker and Hair Specialist Calli Carvajal, and Associate Director Julius Ernesto Rea. The “Alice in Wonderland” cast includes Rotimi Agbabiaka, Sleiman Alahmadieh, Andre Amarotico, Milo Boland, Curt Branom, Andy Collins, Maggie Connard, Jordan Covington, Kareem Jenkins, Matthew Letton, Brigitte Losey, Renée Lubin, Brie Martin, Sara Toby Moore, Joel Ochoa, Scott Reardon, Deanalís Arocho Resto, Samantha Rich, River Bermudez Sanders, William Schmidt, Erin Rose Solorio, Adria Swan, Lucy Swinson, Dale Tanner, Gwen Tessman and Anne Warque. “Alice in Wonderlan” will be given four preview performances Saturday, November 28, at 1pm; Sunday, November 29 at 1pm; Thursday, December 3, at 6pm; and Friday, December 4, at 6pm; followed by OPENING NIGHT Saturday, December 5, at 6 pm; and subsequent performances Sunday, December 6, at 1pm; Thursday, December 10, at 6 pm; Friday, December 11, at 6 pm; Saturday, December 12, at 1 pm and 6 pm; Sunday, December 13, at 1 pm; Thursday, December 17, at 6 pm; Friday, December 18, at 6 pm; Saturday, December 19, at 1 pm and 6 pm; Sunday, December 20, at 1 pm; Tuesday, December 22, at 1 pm; Wednesday, December 23, at 1 pm and 6 pm; Thursday, December 24, at 1 pm; Saturday, December 26 at 1 pm and 6 pm; and Sunday, December 27, at 1 pm.
