Songs of Our Mothers: A Singing Tree Mural Reveal Show
Join Healing & Uniting Every Sista (HUES) with the San Francisco AIDS Foundation on World AIDS Day, December 1, 2023 at 7p as the Founding Mothers of HUES come together to share their experiences as long-term survivors of HIV.
“We are mothers, grandmothers. We are women who lived through turbulent times in our 20s and are finding our way as we age. We have explored our passions through careers in advocacy and we are now women, maturing into elderhood with strong life stories that should be shared with younger generations of women.”
Through symbolism and imagery, these women, Movement Mothers, detail points of their lives focusing on adolescence and young adulthood, the tumultuous twenty and thirty somethings and into the years of growth, love, family, and career during middle-age, and finally, the often misunderstood periods of senior and elder-hood.
Songs of Our Mothers will feature a 9ft mural, a short film, and process art collected during the 1-year art making process.
