Each December, as holiday lights begin to appear across the city, San Francisco’s Polk Gulch neighborhood hosts one of its most cheerful traditions: Sweatercon, the annual Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl. For one evening, the corridor transforms into a festive walkable route where revelers trade winter formality for bright colors, flashing lights, and the playful charm of questionable knitwear.
What began as a simple gathering of holiday enthusiasts has grown into a well-loved seasonal event, drawing both longtime residents and visitors looking for a lively, lighthearted way to celebrate the holidays. Set against the backdrop of one of the city’s best neighborhoods, Sweatercon offers a holiday experience that feels both spirited and unmistakably San Francisco.
