Oakland Short Film Festival 2023
Oakland Short Film Festival 2023 is taking place on the 30th of March at Landmark's Piedmont Theatre screening 17 short films of different genres. After last year’s online edition, we are excited to be returning to the cinema halls with a varied programme full of fresh artistic takes.
Aiming to showcase emerging talents and address social issues of today, the OAKSFF23 selection runs the gamut of fiction, experimental and documentary films, and animated films. Loyal to our vision to serve as a connecting platform, our selected indie shorts aim to spark conversations and give birth to new ideas.
Among others, in this year's screening program, you will find student films, established directors’ creations and upcoming filmmakers’ gems.
The 10-minute multi-awarded animated short Boys Clap, Girls Dance tells the story of a pre-teen who exists in an artificially constructed world. The documentary EVA by Emma Ishøy, which has also been screened at CPH:DOX, is a visual essay on the female body gently told by a variety of women using their own bodies as canvas. In the animated short category, The Torrential Melody by José Luis Saturno and The Borderline (La Frontera) by Christian Arredondo Narváez, which have travelled in world-class festivals worldwide are bound to captivate your attention.
