This 10-day program - from July 19th through July 28th (culminating on Peruvian Independence Day) - will spotlight the rich culinary and cultural heritage of Peru, while honoring the vibrant Peruvian restaurant scene in San Francisco. Participating restaurants include La Mar, Chotto Matte, Mariposas, Lomo Libre, and Puerto 27.
Throughout the 10 days, diners are encouraged to participate in a culinary journey throughout the city and visit as many of the six restaurants as possible, trying at least one designated menu item at each stop. Menus at each restaurant will highlight classic Peruvian cuisine, from fresh and flavorful ceviche to signature entrees, like Lomo Saltado, a popular beef dish served with French fries and rice, and more. Each restaurant will have custom-designed ‘passports’, allowing diners to receive a stamp upon ordering.
Those who collect stamps from at least three participating restaurants are eligible to submit their stamped ‘passport’ to La Mar on Sunday, July 28, at the restaurant’s annual Peruvian Independence Day celebration, for a chance to win a trip to Lima, Peru, inclusive of two complimentary round-trip economy tickets, a four-night hotel stay, and a 10-course dinner at Gaston Acurio’s highly acclaimed restaurant, Astrid & Gaston. Winners will be announced on Monday, July 29 via social media and will be contacted directly.
The Peruvian Independence Day celebration will be held at La Mar on July 28th from 12-3pm and will feature live music, Latin artisans including local jewelry designer Laura Gelvez of Candelario and Alpaca clothing company, Alpaca Fashion, an array of Peruvian specialties at various stations, and more. Tickets are on sale HERE for $49 per person (21+ older), which includes four food and beverage vouchers.
