Second Annual Redwood City Tamalada 2003
A Tamalada is a traditional event that brings together family, neighbors, and friends. The social gathering, usually held the weeks preceding the holidays, ferments conversations, bonding, and occasionally, friendly gossip.
This is a hands-on tamale making and tasting workshop.
We start with an introduction to tamales, overview, history, variations, and steaming methods.
Participants will learn the authentic methods for making the tamale masa and different fillings. They will learn different techniques of rolling and folding the tamales. We will also demonstrate the steaming process with a variety of cookware.
We will also offer vegan alternative upon request. Participants will leave with tamales to cook at home and a recipe guide.
The date is Saturday, December 2nd. There will be a morning session from 10:00 to 12:00 noon and an afternoon session from 2:00 to 4:00.
The event will be at:
Highlands Community Club
1665 Fernside St.
Redwood City, CA 94061
