HMB Oddfellows Movie Night - Myanmar Earthquake Benefit

Money Has Four Legs A film by Maung Sun Myanmar / Dramedy / 97min. / Burmese with English subtitles Trailer: youtu.be/LHDj34_fipY?si=vjBo4VAZjOHP3yf- A passionate young director fights to complete his first film amidst government censorship, shady producers, and a chaotic cast—only to find his own life echoing the crime drama he’s trying to make. Witty, inventive, and rich with local texture, this satirical gem blurs the line between fiction and reality while offering a vibrant portrait of Myanmar’s creative spirit today. The filmmaker’s brother, Lone Lone Kavan, will be present for a Q&A. He worked as Music Supervisor and Production Designer on the film, which was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Myanmar cinema. Urgent Relief for Myanmar A devastating earthquake has struck Myanmar, claiming thousands of lives and further ravaging communities already grappling with the effects of the military coup and civil war. Families are in desperate need of food, water, and medicine. You Can Help This is a critical moment for action. Please join us for a heartfelt evening of music and film in support of immediate disaster relief efforts. Let’s come together to provide aid—and to celebrate the enduring spirit and culture of Myanmar. 100% of proceeds go to grassroots aid for those most affected. About the Filmmaker Ma Aeint is a Myanmar-based filmmaker and producer. She holds a postgraduate degree in Social Work and co-founded Electronic Pictures, a film production company, in 2012. In 2021, Ma Aeint was arrested for her involvement in political activism following Myanmar’s coup and spent two years in prison. Released in May 2023, she has since resumed her filmmaking journey, continuing to share her voice and vision through her work.
