Richard King will present an engaging talk on our historical connections with whales along the central California coast—from their relationships with Indigenous people and the arrival of American and Portuguese whalers to modern whaling out of Moss Landing and San Francisco. He’ll also discuss the arrival of whale watching, and the modern environmental movement.
Richard King lives in Santa Cruz and is a Visiting Professor at the Sea Education Association in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.
