Concert with Conversation: Isidore String Quartet

The free Concert with Conversation series features world-class musicians performing for the CMC Community. Each short concert is followed by a Q & A session, where the audience can learn about the lives, hard-work, and inspiration of these artists. Thursday, April 17 at 7pm CMC Concert Hall FREE RSVP is recommended. There will also be space for walk-up patrons. Seating is first-come, first-served. Winners of a 2023 Avery Fisher Career Grant, and the 14th Banff International String Quartet Competition in 2022, the New York City-based Isidore String Quartet strives to revisit, rediscover, and reinvigorate the repertory—utilizing the vital tradition of the string quartet as a playground to impact the world and inspire others through the art of collaboration and play. The quartet is heavily influenced by the Juilliard String Quartet and the idea of ‘approaching the established as if it were brand new, and the new as if it were firmly established.’ Lauded as “vivid, imaginative, and bold” with “a focus and command beyond their years... [with] sweeping coherence and blazing virtuosity of their narrative,” their international accolades have brought the exciting young quartet extensive tours of North America and Europe and residencies in the US and Canada. Outside the concert hall the quartet has worked with PROJECT: MUSIC HEALS US providing encouragement, education, and healing to marginalized communities through live performance, and resident ensemble for the Contemporary Alexander School/Alexander Alliance International to explore the landscape of body awareness, mental preparation, and performance practice. Isidore String Quartet: Adrian Steele, violin Phoenix Avalon, violin Devin Moore, viola Joshua McClendon, cello Stay tuned for additional program details TBA. CMC thanks San Francisco Performances for making these concerts free for our community.
