Voices of Music presents Seicento
Join Voices of Music in the opening concert of our 2024-2025 season. We will explore and delve into the genius of women composers, giving them the voice they have deserved to have for nearly 4 centuries. We will meander through a luscious sound scape of the very creative and poetic world Isabelle Leonarda, Francesca Caccini, and Barbara Strozzi with Sherezade Panthaki, soprano to give voice to voices that have been silenced for centuries. We will musically mirror the beautiful intricacy of our female composers with the wonderfully sensitive Allesandro Scarlatti and and Guilo Caccini. Our featured artists, Isabelle Seula Lee & Manami Mizumoto, baroque violins; William Skeen, baroque cello; Hanneke van Proosdij, recorder & harpsichord, David Tayler, archlute & baroque guitar, will engage in a playful dialogue highlighting the brilliance of the wonderful experimentation in art, music and science that occurred in all manners with credit to the warmth of the harmonious landscapes provided by both the women and male composers we will present.
