Belmont Handcrafted Originals Art Fair

Unplug and enjoy a peaceful, leisurely stroll through the art-adorned sidewalks of charming Carlmont Village Shopping Center at this open-air boutique supporting small makers. Celebrate spring with these 20 artisans’ newest handcrafted collections and enjoy chatting with them about their showcased latest, original works. Handmade Bags and Totes Bay area resident Lisa Candee creates and sews, one-of-a-kind, original take-a-long bags and totes. Everything is handmade from new-life and repurposed locally sourced fabrics. “They are functional, durable and comfortable, have plenty of pockets so everything has a place to keep you organized for errands or throughout your busy day,” says Lisa. Jewelry From her home studio in Daly City, artist Chelsey Greene creates one-of-a-kind earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. What makes her jewelry so unusual is her process using torch fired enamel combined with gold plated geometric elements to create each beautiful piece. Enameling is the process by which glass is fused to the surface of copper. Chelsey then applies a special technique called sgraffito - a form of decoration, pattern, design and texture made by scratching through the top enamel to reveal an underlying layer of contrasting color making each piece unique. Glass Moira Barker is a fused glass artist who is inspired by nature. Much of her artwork is garden art with some decorative items for indoors. She creates glass flowers, including large poppies, daisies, lilies, daffodils, and sunflowers set on tall copper stems. These glass florals are displayed in pots and intended for outside enjoyment. Moira also crafts glass ladybugs, garden stakes, butterflies, and mushrooms to join the garden collection. Painting Brad Berkheimer has been a full-time professional decorative painter in the Monterey/Pebble Beach area for over 40 years. He’s self-taught and specializes in many types of faux finishes, decorative painting of home interior spaces, and custom automotive painting and graphics. Brad transitioned these skills and experiences to find renewed joy and inspiration in painting original abstract artwork on canvas. “My art is guided by the forms, textures, colors and movement I find in nature,” he says. “I look to create unique organic images that attempt to mimic a full spectrum of tones, dynamics and harmonic corrosion found in the natural world.” Enjoy these among other professional artists at the Belmont Handcrafted Originals Art Fair. The event takes place Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at Carlmont Village Shopping Center, located on Ralston Avenue at Alameda de las Pulgas.
