Bay Area Book Festival Family Day
Bring the whole family to the Berkeley Public Library for the Bay Area Book Festival Family Day Saturday, May 4. The free event offers a comic book giveaway, appearances by more than 90 children's and young adult book authors, story time readings, and awards for student writers. The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Berkeley Public Library Central Branch, 2090 Kittredge St. Hear presentations and Q&A sessions from best-selling authors. Attend family-friendly, youth-oriented panel discussions on book categories including graphic novels, fantasy, scifi, mystery, superheroes, coming of age stories, Black joy, Latina expressions, Asian American Pacific Islander themes, and more. And since it's May 4th, The semi-official "May the Fourth Be With You" Day, Star Wars themed CosPlay costumes are encouraged (but not required). Star Wars and SciFi lovers can attend a free light saber demonstration session during Family Day as well.
