Art Opening - Kimmi Risk Art - Sept 13th, 6p-8p
From the artist: Art, for me, is a gateway to joy. When I see someone smile at my work, I know I've succeeded in creating a moment of happiness. My art is an escape—an invitation to step into a world as whimsical as a Dr. Seuss book or as magical as Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. In my studio, I often find myself giggling with the pure delight of creation, each piece inspired by something that has brought me joy.

But this journey to joy began in the darkest chapter of my life. When my son was diagnosed with cancer, our lives were consumed by hospital walls and the constant fight for his survival. It was a nightmare I couldn’t wake up from. During that time, I turned to painting, creating art that became my own escape—a place where I could find solace and smile, even when the world felt unbearable.

My son beat cancer, but I continue to create art that will bring a bit of joy and light into your life, just as it does for me.
