Opening the night is Jerome Dawson and Wazabe Blue
Jerome Dawson’s smooth‐jazz sound blends soulful intensity with R&B‐funk influences shaped by artists like David Sanborn, Wayman Tisdale, Art Porter, and Grover Washington Jr. His debut CD, produced by Randy Emata and featuring musicians Mic Gillette, Reggie Balino, Gene Ginn, Conte Slaton, and vocalist Kristen Flores, sold hundreds of copies and helped establish his signature style.
Wazabe Blue is a San Diego–based contemporary
jazz group led by saxophonist Jerome Dawson. The band has performed throughout
