Uncle Nearest Whiskey Pairing Event at Antlers Lodge
Antlers Lodge restaurant at Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa partners with Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, the first distillery to honor an African-American enslaved man and the first African-American female-owned spirit brand in U.S. history, to host a pairing dinner. The event will feature dishes created by the hotel’s culinary team expertly paired with premium whiskey tastings and cocktails for an immersive dining experience.
The whiskey pairing will begin with an Uncle Nearest Mint Julep welcome cocktail followed by a first course of jollof rice aranci paired with Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch Tasting. The second course features endive salad with citrus segments, ricotta, compressed red onion, pistachios, and a pomegranate dressing served with an Uncle Nearest 1884 Highball and lemon. The meal continues with a serving of Caribbean jerk-spiced halibut paired with a Smoked Old Fashioned, followed by the fourth course of bone-in beef short ribs topped with Uncle Nearest’s whiskey glaze and paired with an Uncle Nearest 1856 Premium whiskey neat tasting.
The whiskey pairing event concludes with a serving of sweet potato bread pudding served with vanilla ice cream and an Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch caramel glaze paired with a raspberry mocha whiskey espresso martini. Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey is built on the legacy of African American master distiller in the United States, Nathan “Nearest” Green. Deemed “The Best Whiskey Maker the World Never Knew,” Nathan Green was a former slave who became Tennessee’s premier master distiller, and helped to build whiskey making processes still used today.
