Loma Editions Presents: Torches Mauve, Ethan Campa & Aaron Arguello, Space Available
Join Loma Editions and company for an evening of adventurous and eclectic sounds at Estate Coffee Co. on San Antonio’s East Side. Touring free improvisation duo Torches Mauve visit from Kansas City to share their dynamic mix of speculative sonic conversation and honed cacophony. They are joined on the bill by the frenetic percussive stylings of San Antonio’s Ethan Campa & Aaron Arguello and the “ambient conjunto” of local artist Space Available.
TORCHES MAUVE
Torches Mauve is the free jazz and free improvisation duo of Seth Andrew Davis on electric guitar, laptop, and electronics and Evan Verploegh on drums and percussion. Torches Mauve combines elements of free jazz, nonidiomatic free improvisation, electroacoustic techniques, noise, and groove-based music. Davis and Verploegh released their first record, “Hunter,” on Lurker Bias in spring 2022. The duo released their self-titled follow-up in February 2023. Davis and Verploegh are the co-founders of the Extemporaneous Music & Arts Society (EMAS), a Kansas City-based improvised and experimental arts collective.

Ethan "Coach" Campa is here to show the little leagues how the pros do experimental improvisational songwriting, and after experiencing it for yourself, you too will be saying, "Put me in the game, Coach," at no less than 250 BPM.

Space Available is music for the sense of somber possibility that fills commercial real estate. It tries to bridge the gap between the viscousness of capitalism and the intimacy of private interior space. The in-between of loss and gain. The end of something as glimpsed from the beginning.
