I am Locosan, my name is Jerry Lockey. I have had creative spurts throughout my life but nothing like what I felt when I started glazing large terracotta planter bowls near the end of 2021. I glazed 12 bowls in what I think of as “21st mid century modern”. I wanted to do more and started making my own bowls to express myself experimenting with a local clay that comes from Elmendorf, Tx. (vitrified clay). I also use terracotta in my work. I build by hand and configure slabs, make bowls and sculptures giving me chance to explore dichotomies of subjects - the simple explanation is an inside and an outside design. I am inspired in travels with my muse and wife Dara, bringing ideas home. I am obsessed. My designs range from abstract geometrical shapes and textures to representing ideas, songs and life in the 21st century.
