Christian Center of Park City and the National Association of Evangelicals will host a free panel discussion event, “Building Bridges: Finding Common Ground on Immigration and the Border Crisis” from 6:30-8 p.m., Thursday, August 22 at Congregation Kol Ami, 2425 Heritage Way, Salt Lake City. Moderated by Dr. Rob Harter, chief executive officer of Christian Center of Park City, this event will explore immigration in Utah and nationally through a clear-eyed and compassionate lens, helping Utahans better understand and offer workable proposals for immigration reform. Panelists include a spectrum of faith, nonprofit and civic leaders, including Rev. Steven Eng, advocacy director, National Association of Evangelicals, sharing national faith and policy perspectives; Emmie Gardner, CEO of Holy Cross Ministries, contributing experiences addressing immigrants’ health and well-being as they gain independence and full community participation; Natalie El-Deiry, director of immigration and new American integration, Utah Center for Immigration & Integration, Utah Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity, offering perspective on immigration opportunities and challenges through advancing strategies and policies that improve the quality of life for immigrants, help energize Utah’s economy, and strengthen Utah communities, and Rabbi Samuel Spector, Congregation Kol Ami, Utah’s largest Jewish congregation, sharing insights gained as his congregation pursues passionate Jewish engagement through education, ritual, and service to community members and refugees. Event co-sponsors include: • National Association of Evangelicals (NAE), founded in 1942, today includes more than 45,000 churches from 40 denominations, and thousands of congregations, schools, nonprofits and networks serving a constituency of millions. The NAE provides resources, connection and influence to help evangelical leaders foster thriving communities and navigate complexity with biblical clarity. • Christian Center of Park City, a Christian, humanitarian community resource center that helps improve the lives of people and communities through meeting immediate and basic needs, serving as a leading networker of community resources, offering counseling and care support, and giving hope to those they serve.
