Adrian West Band at The Melon Ball in Davis
Adrian West Band returns to Davis with a new sound! They normally perform at Sudwerk Brewing when they come to Davis but they’ve started playing with a talented jazz pianist (Michael Echaniz) and the Melon Ball has a Steinway grand piano so they decided to do their next show there. They’ll perform as a six-piece band and as always they’ll play a mix of original acoustic rock plus some covers plus a few jazz tunes. The band will include two vocalists, acoustic guitar, electric violin, alto sax, upright bass, drums & live looping. Light refreshments will be served but also feel free to BYOB.
Adrian describes the band’s original material as “Paul Simon meets Talking Heads." He takes delight in setting thoughtful lyrics to joyful music. His subject matter might veer a tad dark at times but the underlying music is uplifting, giving the listener a richly layered experience. Whether he's telling a story about a skinny-dipping episode gone awry or grappling with some major challenge facing humanity, his lyrics are infused with equal parts hope, realism and whimsy.
