Join the Parkinson Association of Northern California (PANC), in partnership with Lions District 4-C5, for the 9th Annual Robert G. Smith Walk to Cancel Out Parkinson’s on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Maidu Regional Park in Roseville.
Held during Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Month, this inspiring community event brings together individuals living with Parkinson’s disease, their care partners, families, and supporters for a meaningful day of connection, awareness, and hope.
The walk is named in honor of Robert G. Smith—a Sacramento native, retired Sheriff’s detective, and dedicated community leader who battled Parkinson’s disease for more than seven years. His legacy of service and commitment to the community continues to inspire this event and the many lives it touches.
The morning begins at 9:00 AM with sponsor and exhibitor booths, walk check-in, and live entertainment. The walk begins at 10:00 AM on an accessible, all-abilities-friendly course. Following the walk, participants can enjoy lunch, awards, prize announcements, and an exhibitor passport drawing beginning at 11:00 AM. The event concludes at 12:00 PM.
Participants can register as individuals or teams and are encouraged to fundraise by sharing their participation with friends and family. A virtual walk option is also available for those unable to attend in person. Registration includes a commemorative event t-shirt (for those registered by April 10 and attending in person), lunch, prizes, vendor exhibits, and live musical entertainment provided by Mike and Sherry.
This event is more than just a walk—it is a celebration of resilience and a chance to honor the strength of those living with Parkinson’s, as well as the dedication of their care partners.
Proceeds from the event directly benefit the Parkinson Association of Northern California, a nonprofit organization providing vital programs and services throughout the region. These include education, support groups, wellness programs, and resources that improve quality of life for individuals and families navigating Parkinson’s disease.
With Parkinson’s recognized as one of the fastest-growing neurological diseases in the world, events like this play a critical role in raising awareness, building community, and ensuring that no one faces Parkinson’s alone.
Come walk, support, and be part of a powerful day making a meaningful impact in the lives of so many.
