[Los Angeles, CA – June 23, 2024] - St. Barnabas Senior Services, a leading advocate for the well-being of older adults, is delighted to announce an upcoming information session tailored specifically for caregivers of older adults. This session will provide valuable insights into free online technology classes designed to enhance the digital literacy of caregivers and empower them to better support the seniors in their care. The event will take place on June 5-6, 2024, starting at 1:00 pm at 720 Olive Drive, Davis, CA, 95616.
Through CalGrows, the California Department of Aging’s workforce training program, St. Barnabas Senior Services is committed to empowering individuals with foundational knowledge about technology. The information session will serve as an opportunity for community members to learn about the wide range of technology classes available online, covering essential topics such as:
Basic skills of computers, smart phones, and tablets essential for accessing online resources.
Internet browsing and email proficiency to facilitate communication with healthcare providers and family members
Social media usage for staying connected with support networks
Cybersecurity and online safety measures to protect sensitive information and ensure the security of older adults’ data
"Access to technology education is vital for individuals of all ages, especially seniors," said Darlene Kiyan, President and CEO of St. Barnabas Senior Services. "Through these free online classes, we aim to bridge the digital divide and empower seniors to stay connected, engaged, and informed in today's digital world."
During the information session, attendees will receive detailed information on how to register for the online classes and access the necessary resources. Knowledgeable staff members will be available to answer questions and provide assistance as needed.
