RICE Comics Showcase
Our special guests include: Frances Chang Andreu, Rochester-based artist, librarian, and recent contributor to the comics journal Strumpet; Joshua Barkman, the artist of the acclaimed webcomic False Knees; Dave Chisholm, author of the Eisner-nominated graphic novel Chasin’ the Bird and the critically acclaimed Enter the Blue; Jackie E. Davis, creator of the popular autobiographical webcomic Underpants & Overbites; Sally Peck, creator of the new comics series “Witchaboos”; Jonathan Schnapp, creator of the graphic novel Order of the Night Jay; Cayetano Valenzuela, artist and illustrator of an in-progress Latinx teen horror graphic novel; Franzie Weldgen, a widely exhibited artist and comics educator; Brian Yanish, renowned graphic novelist and author of the forthcoming books Epic Roller Coaster Ride! and Sweet and Sour; and Jason Yungbluth, contributor to MAD magazine and creator of the comic books Deep Fried, Clarissa, and Weapon Brown.
Each artist will read from their comics at the event. Free and open to the public (museum admission required for access to exhibits).
Get there early to explore The Strong National Museum of Play! The museum’s exhibits are open until 8pm on Friday, and the butterfly garden and ropes courses close at 7:15 p.m.
The Rochester Independent Comics Expo (RICE) is on Saturday, March 25th, 11am-4pm, in the Sibley Building!
