Barbecue Bash Quarters

Obatron Productions' fitness arm, Obatron Fitness, presents Barbecue Bash Quarters! Come race on our certified quarter marathon course where you can do up to four laps for a full marathon, finish with a medal, and enjoy a trip through our barbecue line with hearty options for vegans, too. The race is in its fourth year and is currently the only road marathon in Monroe County! The course itself starts at the historic Spencerport Depot and Canal Museum on the packed earth Heritage Trail before heading into the quiet neighborhoods of the Village of Spencerport. With a mix of hills and flat stretches, the course comes back to the trail making its way toward the Ogden Town Line before doubling back to the timing mat for 6.55 miles. Those who are finished collect their medals, check for raffle prizes, and head to the buffet line. Those who are not cross the mat and veer back onto the course to do as many more laps as they need for their chosen distance. With a generous 7-hour cutoff, walkers are welcome! One unusual feature of this race is the ability for racers to drop down to a lower number of quarters than they signed up to do during the race, if needed. Another is that there is a 3/4 marathon option, giving folks a gentler progression of race distances than jumping from half to full marathons. One more is our Earned Extras. All racers get free raffle tickets for various items, but those who participate in our Earned Extras posts online or who donate funds or goods for our charity partners get extra tickets. The Barbecue Bash Quarters charity partner is Cartons for Christmas, which provides food items to comprise holiday dinners for Spencerport families specifically at Christmastime.
