Join us for this beginner-friendly event where you can walk or run for as many miles as you can for as many hours as you want up to the whole twelve that are available from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. The relatively flat course is a paved path nestled between a wildlife preserve and Lake Ontario State Parkway, starting at the Lake Ontario State Parkway Trail trailhead on Island Cottage Road and U-turning when you get to Dewey Ave, never crossing any road. Google Maps mistakenly has that part of the LOSP trail labeled as the 390 Trail, but the physical sign says otherwise!
Whether you've never done something like this before or you're an old hand, we welcome you. Every racer gets a medallion for finishing a single 2.06-mile lap and has the opportunity to earn cumulative prizes for increasingly high mileage. Racers who are out on the course (not resting along the course) for at least a part of every hour get a bonus goody.
The atmosphere is festive, celebrating being out and about largely after dark in the spooky season. The race starts in the daylight, so everyone has a chance to get accustomed to the course before the sun sets and the moon rises. Illumination is required as the path has none of its own and what we add is necessarily nominal. The race headquarters springs up at the trailhead, which is also the area where you park. HQ features a portable toilet, handwashing station, refreshment tables, music, a warming tent, and the timing tracker.
While we provide a complete aid station, racers are welcome to set up their own personal aid station and can even pitch a tent or canopy for themselves or a group. In the spirit of the season, we have a small prize for the person who sets up the best dressed personal aid station, whether that's a single lawn chair or a 10x10 space.
Speaking of awards and prizes, beside the cumulative mileage tokens, the top three overall finishers, regardless of gender designation, win a special award. All racers are eligible for free raffle tickets and can earn extras by participating in specific social media posts, completing the associated coloring page tracker, and providing donations for Greece Ecumenical Food Shelf. All awards and prizes must be claimed before leaving the race.
Special youth and 70+ pricing is in effect.
