Eddie Barbash: Late Show Saxophonist Live
Chamber Music Rochester presents Eddie Barbash, founding member of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert house band, for an extraordinary afternoon of music. Hailed by Jon Batiste as "one of the world's most important saxophonists," Barbash brings his exceptional artistry to Rochester in a program that bridges classical precision and jazz innovation.
The concert features Rochester composer David Temperley's Violin Sonata No. 5, Darius Milhaud's La Création du Monde for Piano Quintet, and jazz standards arranged by special guest drummer Kyle Athayde. This carefully curated program demonstrates the natural connection between classical chamber music and jazz—both art forms built on intimate musical conversation.
Barbash will be joined by Kyle Athayde, drums; Juliana Athayde, violin; Jeff Campbell, bass; Chiao-Wen Cheng, piano; Lars Kirvan, cello; Joshua Newburger, viola; Bob Sneider, guitar; and Jeanelle Thompson, violin.
Free pre-concert talk at 2:30 PM. Students and children attend free.
