Colo-rectal test kits - Cancer Support Community at Gilda's Club
The Colo/rectal tests are free to anyone 40 years and older. They do not replace colonoscopies but do check for markers for Colo-rectal cancer, diverticulitis, colon polyps and colitis. A positive test does not mean a person has any of the above, but there are markers in the fecal sample to let someone know they need to talk to their doctor. This is done in the privacy of the home and is very simple to do. Results are displayed within five minutes. All we ask is that recipients let us know they have done the test. They are free to share results if they choose but are not required. The information gathered is submitted to NYS and is the zip code, age bracket, gender, and racial identity. Paperwork is destroyed after the data is sent to NYS. It never leaves Cancer Support community beyond the anonymous data.
CSC's mission is to provide non-medical support to ANYONE whose life has been touched by cancer, either directly or indirectly. We have cancer specific support groups as well as Men and Women of Color groups, Latina/Latino and Veterans. We have social gatherings monthly, a variety of fitness classes, sewing classes (run by yours truly), art classes as well as musical instrument instruction, to name a few programs. This is all provided at NO charge to anyone touched by cancer. Thank you for allowing us to spread the word!
