Odyssey Academy Music & Drama is excited to present as its February Mainstage Musical the contemporary classic "Into the Woods". Written in 1987 with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, the musical intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales, including “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Jack and the Beanstalk”, and “Rapunzel”. Tied together by a story involving a childless baker and his wife and their quest to begin a family, the musical explores the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. The winner of three Tony Awards, including for Best Music and Best Book, the musical was made into an Academy Award nominated movie in 2014 starring Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Cordon and Johnny Depp. The most recent 2022 Broadway revival was a critical sell-out hit!
"Into the Woods" features a heartwarming, engaging plot and beautiful, inspired music, and Odyssey Academy’s production will feature outstanding performances, exquisite costumes, and eye-catching sets. It’s “Family Friendly Fun for February Break!”
