The titular Kos is Tadeusz Kościuszko, Polish army officer and statesman who gained fame both for his role in the American Revolution and for his leadership of a national insurrection in his homeland.
In spring of 1794, upon his returns to Poland, Kościuszko plans to ignite an uprising against the Russians by mobilizing Polish gentry and peasants. He is accompanied by his faithful friend and former slave, Domingo. Kościuszko is being tracked down by a merciless Russian cavalry captain, Dunin, who wants to do whatever it takes to capture the general before he starts a national revolt.
