We are thrilled to return to the beautiful sanctuary of Christ Church Rochester to perform this wonderful program of music from 18th-century Germany! In Christ Church we will have the privilege of performing with the glorious Craighead-Saunders organ, one of the only extant examples in the Western Hemisphere of a full-size organ in the style of 18th-century Germany. The organ will be featured in Bach's beautiful dialogue cantata "Ich geh und suche mit Verlangen" (BWV 49), for soprano, bass, obbligato organ, violoncello piccolo, oboe d'amore, and strings, as well as in a Torelli concerto grosso arranged for organ by Johann Gottfried Walther. Also on the program will be two lovely solo cantatas by Christoph Graupner, an extremely prolific contemporary of Bach's who turned down the job of Thomaskantor in Leipzig before it was offered to Bach. Vocal soloists will be soprano Andréa Walker and bass Peter Schoellkopff, two stellar young artists you won't want to miss!
