Think About It: A Dialogue on Rochester's Housing Crisis
Join us as we delve into Rochester’s housing challenges, both past and present. The program will begin with a screening of the 1968 documentary Think About It, which vividly portrays the housing crisis that gripped the city during a pivotal era of social change. Following the screening, a distinguished panel will engage in a dialogue exploring the persistent struggles that continue to shape Rochester’s housing landscape.
Facilitated by Shane Wiegand, co-Director of Our Local History at Coordinated Care Services, Inc., the discussion will feature insights from Kim Smith (At-Large Member of Rochester City Council), William A. Johnson Jr. (former Mayor of Rochester), Dr. Candice Lucas (Senior Vice President for Equity and Advocacy at the Urban League of Rochester), and Gene DePrez ( Co-Producer/Director of Think About It and former President and Chief Executive of the Urbanarium.).
This event invites the community to reflect on the deep-rooted issues of housing inequity and to participate in a conversation about the steps needed to address these ongoing challenges.
