Hockey Fights Cancer Charity Hockey Game

The Canandaigua Knights 10U AA hockey team invites you to an extraordinary community event, the Hockey Fights Cancer Charity Game, on Saturday, November 30th, 2024, at 3:30 PM at the Greater Canandaigua Civic Center. This event, an official part of the NHL's Hockey Fights Cancer initiative, is much more than a game—it’s a powerful demonstration of community unity in support of cancer research, patient care, and awareness. In just a few weeks, this inspiring effort has raised over $34,000 in contributions through sponsorships, donations, and in-kind support. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society, with no funds retained by the team. This event is an opportunity for players, families, and the broader community to come together and fight for something bigger than hockey. This is a game like no other, with an electric atmosphere and a lineup of special activities, including a moving pre-game ceremony featuring a joint photo of both teams holding their “I FIGHT FOR” cards, a military color guard, anthem singers, and two giant American flags held by players and first responders at center ice; community and first responder involvement, with local first responders from the Canandaigua City Police Department, Fire Department, Ontario County Sheriffs, New York State Troopers, Canandaigua Emergency Squad, and Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department participating and displaying their vehicles outside the arena to greet spectators; a ceremonial puck drop by a local cancer survivor, symbolizing hope and strength; first responder appreciation during the first period; exciting game-day raffles featuring incredible prizes such as tickets to professional and college sporting events, signed memorabilia, and more; and exclusive merchandise, including limited-edition Hockey Fights Cancer hoodies and gear, with proceeds supporting the cause. We’re honored to welcome New York State Senator Pam Helming, who will present the prestigious NY Senate Empire Award to the Knights for their community impact. The event has already garnered attention from media outlets, including WHAM 13, the Democrat & Chronicle, FingerLakes1.com, and the Finger Lakes Times. For those who can’t attend in person, the game will be professionally live-streamed with play-by-play commentary by Gene Battaglia, a color commentator, and wireless camera coverage. The stream ensures top-quality viewing and will be available for replay. Watch live at https://view.yololiv.com/live/1237219127475568640. Whether you’re a hockey fan or just someone looking to be part of a meaningful community event, this is your chance to make a difference. Spectators will begin arriving at 2:00 PM, and the game kicks off after the 3:30 PM ceremony. The event is expected to draw hundreds of attendees, including local families, community leaders, and businesses, making it a truly unforgettable experience. Come for the hockey, stay for the heart. Together, we can make a difference in the fight against cancer. For more information, visit ckhockey.org/hockeyfightscancer.
